This Privacy Policy explains how Interstellar Mobile Mechanic ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit our website, contact us, request a quote, or use our mobile mechanic services.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information fairly, transparently, and securely.
1. Who we are

For the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Interstellar Mobile Mechanic is the data controller for the personal information described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide to us: your name, telephone number, email address, home/workplace/vehicle location, vehicle registration number, vehicle make/model/year/mileage, details of your vehicle and mechanical issues, booking/appointment information, billing and payment information, information provided when requesting a quote, and messages, enquiries, reviews, or communications you send to us (including messages sent to our website chat assistant).
Information collected automatically: pages viewed and interactions with our website (such as tapping the call or WhatsApp buttons), browser and device type, operating system, the referring website, and the date and time of visits.
3. How we use your information
We may use your information to: respond to enquiries and requests for quotes; schedule and manage mechanic appointments; provide mobile mechanic and vehicle repair services; contact you about your booking; identify your vehicle and understand work required; provide estimates, invoices, and receipts; process or facilitate payments; provide customer support; keep records of services carried out; manage our business and improve our services; maintain website and system security; prevent fraud or misuse; comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and send marketing communications where consented or permitted.
4. Location information
Because we provide a mobile mechanic service, location information is particularly important. If you provide an address, postcode, or GPS location, we use it to find your vehicle, determine service availability in your area, plan travel, and calculate travel-related charges.
5. Legal bases for processing
Under the UK GDPR, we rely on lawful bases including contract (to provide services requested), legitimate interests (for business management, security, and customer communication), legal obligation (compliance with laws), and consent (for marketing).
6. Service providers
- Booking emails: booking requests are delivered to our inbox using FormSubmit.
- Chat assistant: messages you type into the website chat assistant are processed by Google's Gemini service to generate replies. Please don't share sensitive personal information in the chat.
- Reviews: customer reviews are displayed using Shapo.
7. Payments
Where you make a payment through a third-party payment provider, your payment information is processed directly by that provider. We do not store complete payment card details on our own systems.
8. Cookies and analytics
Our own website analytics are cookieless: we don't place tracking cookies on your device. To count visits we create a temporary, anonymised identifier from your connection details that changes every day and cannot be used to identify you. We do not store your IP address for analytics. A single essential cookie is used only when our staff sign in to the website's admin area. Third-party embeds such as our reviews widget may set their own cookies.
9. How long we keep information
We keep booking and customer records for as long as needed to provide our services and meet legal, accounting and warranty obligations.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email admin@interstellarmobilemechanic.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
