Please read these terms carefully before booking. They explain what we do, what we charge, what we expect from you, and what happens if something goes wrong. Section 5 (cancellations and missed appointments) is especially important.
1. About us
Interstellar Mobile Mechanic is a trading name of Interstellar Alliance Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17544206, with its registered office at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX ("we", "us", "our").
You can contact us by phone on 07835 956 395, on WhatsApp, or by email at admin@interstellarmobilemechanic.co.uk.
2. These terms
These terms apply to every booking made with us, whether by our website, phone, WhatsApp, email or in person. By making a booking you agree to them. "You" means the person who makes the booking.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services that are not carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods that are faulty. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Advice about your legal rights is available from Citizens Advice.
3. Bookings, quotes and prices
A booking is confirmed when we agree a date, time and location with you. Please give us accurate details of your vehicle (registration, make, model) and the problem or service you need.
Prices shown on our website that start with "from" are starting prices. The final price may vary depending on your vehicle's make and model, the parts it needs, and current oil and parts prices. We will always tell you the price, or a written estimate, before we start any work.
If we find that extra work or parts are needed once we have started, we will explain why and tell you the cost. We will not carry out extra work without your agreement.
4. Call-out and diagnostics fee
Our standard call-out and diagnostics fee is £80. This covers us travelling to you and diagnosing the fault. If you go ahead with a repair or service, we will tell you the full cost before starting.
5. Cancellations and missed appointments
You must give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange a booking.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, our standard call-out and diagnostics fee of £80 will be charged.
If you fail to show up, or we cannot access the vehicle at the agreed time and place, the same £80 call-out and diagnostics fee will be charged.
The 24 hours are counted back from the start of your booked appointment time. For example, to cancel a 10am appointment on Tuesday without a charge, you must tell us before 10am on Monday.
To cancel or rearrange, call 07835 956 395, message us on WhatsApp, or email admin@interstellarmobilemechanic.co.uk. Your notice is taken from the time we receive your call or message.
6. Your legal right to cancel
If you are a consumer and you book with us by phone, online, by message, or away from our premises, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of making the booking without giving a reason.
If you ask us to carry out the work within those 14 days (for example, a booking for the same day or the next week), you agree that we will start before the 14 days have ended. If you then cancel, you will need to pay for any service we have already provided, and you lose your right to cancel once the work is completed.
7. Your responsibilities
Because we work at your home, workplace or roadside, you must:
- make sure the vehicle is at the agreed location at the agreed time, with the keys (and locking wheel nut key, if fitted) available;
- make sure the vehicle is parked somewhere safe and legal for us to work, with enough space around it, on firm and level ground where possible;
- get permission from the landowner or your employer if we will be working on private land that isn't yours, such as a workplace car park;
- tell us about any known faults, warning lights, previous repairs or modifications;
- remove valuables from the vehicle before we arrive.
If we arrive and cannot safely or legally carry out the work (for example, because of the location, access, or severe weather), we may need to rearrange. If this is because the above requirements were not met, section 5 applies and the £80 call-out and diagnostics fee may be charged.
8. Carrying out the work
We will carry out all work with reasonable care and skill. Some jobs can only be done in a workshop. If we find that a job cannot be completed at the roadside, we will tell you and advise you on your options.
Older vehicles may have seized, corroded or brittle parts (such as bolts, brake pipes or fittings) that can break during normal work. If this happens, we will tell you before continuing, and any extra parts or labour needed will only be carried out with your agreement. We are not responsible for parts that fail because of their existing condition, unless we were careless.
Before starting, we will point out any obvious existing damage to the vehicle. Please let us know if you notice any existing damage yourself.
9. Parts
Parts we supply: we use new parts of suitable quality for your vehicle. Where a part comes with a manufacturer's warranty, we will help you claim under it.
Parts you supply: we may fit parts you provide, at our discretion. A fitting charge applies, and we will tell you the cost before we start. Please note:
- we do not guarantee parts you supply, and we are not responsible if they are faulty, incorrect or unsuitable for your vehicle;
- if a part you supply turns out to be wrong or faulty, the labour time already spent and the call-out and diagnostics fee will still be charged;
- our workmanship guarantee covers how we fitted the part, not the part itself.
Old parts we remove will be disposed of responsibly, unless you ask to keep them before the work starts.
10. Payment
Payment is due in full on the same day the work is completed, before we leave. We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, contactless and bank transfer.
Parts we supply remain our property until they have been paid for in full. If payment is not made, we may take reasonable steps to recover the money owed, including the reasonable costs of doing so.
11. Our 30-day workmanship guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship (labour) for 30 days from the date the work is completed. If a fault develops in that time because of how we did the work, we will put it right free of charge.
To make a claim, please contact us as soon as you notice the problem, and give us the chance to inspect and fix it before anyone else works on the vehicle. The guarantee does not cover:
- normal wear and tear;
- damage from accidents, misuse, neglect, or driving the vehicle after a fault has appeared;
- work carried out or interfered with by anyone else after us;
- parts you supplied (see section 9);
- faults that were already present and not part of the work we did.
This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights as a consumer and does not affect them.
12. Diagnostics and pre-purchase inspections
Diagnostics and pre-purchase inspections are based on what we can find on the day, using non-invasive checks and diagnostic equipment. They are our professional opinion of the vehicle's condition at the time of inspection. They are not a guarantee of the vehicle's future reliability, they are not an MOT, and they may not reveal faults that are hidden, intermittent, or would require parts to be dismantled.
The decision to buy a vehicle, and any agreement with the seller, is yours. If you are inspecting a car you don't own, it is your responsibility to get the seller's permission for the inspection.
13. Our responsibility for loss or damage
If we fail to keep to these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
If you use the vehicle for business, we are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, or business interruption.
14. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or for being unable to attend because of events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, road closures, accidents, illness or parts supplier delays. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible to rearrange, and you will not be charged a cancellation fee.
15. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our work or service, please contact us first by phone, WhatsApp or email, and we will do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly.
16. General
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones on our website when you made it.
If a court decides that any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest of the terms will still apply.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales (or of Scotland or Northern Ireland, if you live there).
